Start with the extension, then inspect what it contains
Live Photo is Apple’s capture and playback feature, not one file extension. Apple explains that it records a short moment around the shutter press, including audio, and lets you choose a key photo; exported or transferred files can therefore arrive in different combinations.
- LIVP / LVIP
- Usually a package that may contain both a HEIC still and a MOV clip. The converter prefers the still image.
- HEIC / HEIF
- Common efficient image formats from iPhone. Browser support varies, so Safari or Chrome may behave differently.
- MOV / MP4
- When no still image is available, the converter exports an early frame from the motion clip.
When to use JPG and when to use PNG

PNG cannot restore detail missing from the source, while repeated JPG encoding can lose detail.
A failure does not always mean the file is damaged
HEIC decoding and MOV / MP4 codec support depend on both the browser and operating system. The same file can behave differently in Safari and Chrome. Large videos also use more memory; the 200MB-per-file note is guidance, not a guaranteed hard limit.
